It's like riding a bike: once you learn it's really easy and you never forget. When looking at replacement parts theres rings, springs and all kinds of crap. So it appears only the fatal steel is available for deep six inserts. I am shooting the 100 grain Fatal Steel this year. New machining, making them smoother, and a larger 'foot' on th blade for slightly more leverage. The 2015 Fatal Steels were completely re-vamped. There were complaints that the Fatal Steel felt "rough" opening by hand. I reworked one with a diamond file, and made it run smooth, but who wants to have to do that with what they cost? I did not like what they did to an axis and a pig one of my hunting partners shot. If you have any regular Grim Reapers with 3 blades, any length, try opening one. What is it with the Fatal Steels that you don't like? I bought a set to use this year as my first Grim Reaper experience but I haven't released one on a deer yet.įor being Stainless Steel, they are flimsy and don't open worth a hoot. They won't break off on a shoulder or a ham either. Run a 2" through the ribs of one and you'll buy in. You guys shooting the 1 3/8" on whitetail are not giving Grim Reaper enough credit. ![]() The others simply didn't matter whether they bled or not since I could see them fall from where I sat. 70 yards at a walking pace, never had to stop or bend over. But I put a big gash in the ham bone of a buck when I yipped, and still blew out his off side shoulder. The shorter blades would have to be stronger, it just makes sense. I have never had a blade bend or break, and have killed every single deer shot with them dead, dead, dead. With my 70 lb limbs I use the 2" jobbers. I have the 1 3/8" too, and I loaded them up with my 50 lbs limbs.

But now, after a lot of work, learning and playing, all of that has changed, and we actually have a LOT about African music.īefore we look at the materials that Kalimba Magic has on African music (mostly instructional downloads here, unless otherwise noted), the first item below discusses some of the instruments that we will be talking about.Īrticle: Is it Kalimba, Karimba, or Mbira? Various traditional and non-traditional instruments But there is plenty of African stuff here! The answer is YES! Although admittedly, I do provide a lot of other types of music – Sansula music, folk tunes, Christmas songs, Elvis songs, nursery rhymes, New Age music… and it is easy to get lost. A book format should be easier for you to learn the tabs.Last week, someone emailed me asking: “I’ve looked at a lot of your music, and I cannot find the African music! Is there any actual African music for the kalimba?” It contains all the kalimba tabs of these 56 songs. My book “Kalimba Solo – 56 Popular Songs With Play-Along Videos For 17 Key Thumb Piano” can be purchased on Amazon. The kalimba songs play-along videos below will get you started on this amazing instrument in no time! The only thing you need to do is pluck the keys with your thumbs to create beautiful music. There is no need to learn how to read music or even know how to play another instrument. Unlike instruments such as the ukulele or the piano, the kalimba is a relatively easy instrument to learn how to play. The box of the kalimba amplifies the sound of the tines and gives the instrument its distinctive sound. The length of the tine determines the pitch of the kalimba notes that are produced. Each key is attached to a tine, which is a metal rod that vibrates to produce sound. ![]() ![]() The number of keys can vary depending on the type of kalimba, but the 17-key kalimba is the most common. ![]() The keys are typically plucked with the thumbs to produce sound. The keys are arranged in order, with the lowest note in the middle and the highest notes at the sides. The 17-key kalimba consists of a rectangular wooden box with seventeen metal keys attached to it. The instrument is also very portable, making it perfect for travelling musicians. The kalimba’s feel and sound are similar to that of a steel drum, but it is much easier to play. The instrument is often used in massage therapy and acupuncture sessions to help relax the mind and body. The kalimba has a very relaxing sound that is perfect for unwinding after a long day or creating calm and soothing background music. Don’t let the simplicity of the kalimba fool you – this instrument is capable of creating beautiful and complex music with kalimba tabs! It is a very versatile instrument that can be used for a wide range of genres, including folk, rock and pop. The kalimba can be played by itself or with other instruments. Tracey’s kalimba was based on the design of the mbira, but he modified it to be played with the thumbs instead of the fingers. The kalimba is believed to have gained popularity after ethnomusicologist Hugh Tracey brought the first modern kalimba back from a trip to Zimbabwe. The player holds the mbira in his or her lap and plucks the keys with the thumbs to create kalimba notes. It consists of a wooden board with metal or glass keys attached to it. The mbira is a traditional instrument of the Shona people of Zimbabwe and is usually made of wood. The kalimba is similar to the mbira, but it has a more modern design and is typically made of wood or plastic. The kalimba is derived from an older instrument called the mbira. For a hardcopy of the book with all the kalimba tabs and kalimba notes of these 56 songs, do purchase the title “Kalimba Solo – 56 Popular Songs With Play-Along Videos For 17 Key Thumb Piano” from Amazon. The only resource you need to master easy kalimba songs is right here. As a relaxing and easy-to-learn musical instrument that has been around for centuries, the kalimba is perfect for those who enjoy spending time making music without the stress of learning a complex instrument. It is also commonly known as the thumb piano. Note: Most other low oil pressure system faults are discussed under the Low Pressure Oil System articles that follow because they’re more related to injection oil pressure than engine mechanical. This also contributes to reservoir screen clogging, screen damage, and then HPOP failures. That’s why Powerstrokes that don’t have the oil changed regularly tend to suffer so much mechanical damage. As the filter clogs, the restriction increases, and more of the oil ends up bypassing the filter. That’s why there is a relief valve in the stand pipe in the oil filter housing. The 6.0L Powerstroke can flow 16 gallons of oil per minute, so any restriction in the system can really back up the system. This is sometimes misdiagnosed as a front main seal leak. Occasionally the CMP sensor o-ring will fail and cause a leak near the front of the engine. The 6.0L has many more places to leak from than a conventional engine, but the most common leak is into the intake valley, and it’s caused by a failed oil cooler cover gasket. Other leaks are caused by high pressure system faults, and are discussed in those articles. If there are no combustion gases in the cooling system, the oil cooler is clogged. The fault could still be a blown head gasket, but you can test for that using conventional tools (monitoring pressure in the reservoir with a transducer, or using exhaust gas detection fluid testers). If the EOT value is more than 15 ✯ hotter than the ECT at any time during the test, there is a problem. When the accelerator pedal is released, record the EOT and ECT values (or use the Scan Tool graphing function. No heater operation (passenger compartment)ĪTG TIP: To find a restricted oil cooler, warm up the engine and then monitor the ECT and EOT PIDs on the Scan Tool during a WOT event.Head gasket or other internal engine leak (as a symptom, not a root cause).Symptoms associated with a clogged oil cooler tend to be worse under load, and include: TSB 09-8-3 addresses this concern, and contains procedures for eliminating other possible causes before replacing the oil cooler. A cooler restriction also contributes to EGR cooler faults. This may also cause some localized boiling in the coolant, which will show up at the coolant reservoir, and may cause actual engine damage. This causes a low oil supply to the reservoir, which results in low high-side pressure and a no-start. The oil cooler in the intake valley can become clogged. Debris is generally caused by poor maintenance, so it’s usually the cause of other damage, not the result. Reservoir screen damage is also considered a low pressure oil system fault, though it’s caused by the suction of the high pressure system. The screen gets clogged and the suction pulls the screen apart. The screen at the bottom of the reservoir is there to strain out debris as it’s sucked into the HPOP. Most other low pressure oil faults have to do with one of the relief or check valves in the oil filter housing, as described under the Oil Filter & Related Components articles earlier in this section. Pressure & Volume FaultsĪs stated previously, the oil pumps usually only fail when lifter needle bearings get into them. Any resulting high pressure symptoms are discussed under the Common Oil Pressure Faults article later in this section. Low oil pressure faults tend to become high pressure faults as well, but the issues discussed below start out as low pressure faults. 45 PSI is considered a good warm idle value, so even though it’s much lower than the maximum, oil is still bypassing both the 20 PSI and 25 PSI bypass valves. Only the 70 PSI valve actually bleeds off pressure, so this is the highest you’ll see it go. While there are 20 PSI and 25 PSI valves in the low pressure system, these are bypass valves, not relief valves. |
